Wheelhouse LLC Selected by JMH Capital to Manage Newly Acquired Company Currie Medical Specialties

Wheelhouse LLC was selected by JMH capital to manage Currie Medical Specialty. Wheelhouse Managing Partner Steven E. Simpson is named CEO of Currie Medical Specialties on May 21, 2011.  Currie Medical Specialties, a leader in the design, manufacturing of pneumatic compression devices and garments for the prevention of deep vein thrombosis is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven E. Simpson as the Chief Exceutive Officer.

Steven E. Simpson is a founder and Managing Partner of Wheelhouse, LLC, a hands-on management firm developed specifically for companies seeking strong leadership to achieve demonstrable growth.

Prior to founding Wheelhouse, Simpson served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Spheris, Inc. In six years, Simpson led the company through three significant acquisitions and a profitable recapitalization that grew the company from a $17 million domestic-only medical transcription service provider with an earnings loss to a $200 million global clinical documentation technology and service provider with $34 million in EBITDA.

Before Spheris, Simpson was one of the lead executives who negotiated the $2.5 billion sale of Envoy from Quintiles Envoy Corporation to Healtheon/WebMD Corporation in the creation of the largest healthcare transaction company. He started his affiliation with these companies in 1998 as the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for Quintiles Envoy. From there, he assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer and was one of three executives who made up the Office of the President. After the successful negotiation and sale of Envoy, Simpson became the President of the Transaction Services Division of WebMD. While in that role, the company grew from approximately $200 million to more than $500 million in revenue, through a combination of 14 acquisitions and organic growth that realized an estimated $100 million in synergies.
